About me

Hi there!

My name is Marcel, I am a 3D Artist with a specialization in Environment Art. I studied Creative Media and Games Technologies, 3D Visual Arts at the Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUAS) in The Netherlands.

 

As an Environment Artist, I am passionate in making rich, compelling, and story-driven environments through modular assets, world-building and set dressing. I have a fondness for creating materials, modelling props, composition, and lighting. I am flexible in working with multiple themes and art-styles, from realistic to stylized.

I have 5 years of knowledge using Maya, Photoshop, Unreal Engine and PBR workflow using Substance Painter & Designer, as well as basic knowledge of Unity, Speedtree and World Machine. While Environment Art is my main area of specialization, I have a keen interest for other areas of game development, such as concept-art, lighting, and level-design. I am curious and passionate about learning new methods, pipelines, and push for quality in the projects I work on.

Growing up, I enjoyed piecing together custom builds with Lego, making multiplayer maps in Halo’s map editor and modding Skyrim. It was through this that I realized that I enjoy building art and environments and decided to pursue a career of creating Game Art. I enjoy playing a wide variety of video games of different genres, of both sci-fi and fantasy nature. My favourite games would be Skyrim, Minecraft and the Battlefield, Dark Souls, Hitman, and Halo games. I have also attended a variety of Game-Jams, these include the 2018(Winner) and 2019 Epic Mega-Jams, and the 2019 Brains Eden Game-Jam.
